Each basket is different in its own way!
These beautiful baskets are made by a Zimbabwean tribe in the Matebeleland region. We are working together with women who find passion and pride in weaving these multi purpose baskets, which bring a unique aura to a room. These African decor of baskets will connect you to a tribe that is rich in tradition and culture.
The baskets are made from locally gathered materials including wild grass, small vines and palm leaves constitute the baskets. The largest sized bowls are still used by the Batonga people for their original purpose of ‘winnowing’ grains. Wind winnowing is an agricultural method developed by ancient cultures for separating grain from chaff. In its simplest form it involves throwing the mixture into the air so that the wind blows away the lighter chaff, while the heavier grains fall back down for recovery. For a stunning, natural eye-catcher, combine various sizes and hang them grouped on your wall or decoratively put one individual basket on your coffee table, use a large basket for your magazines, as a fruit bowl or in your living room. The possibilities are endless.
How to care for your treasured baskets?
Avoid an area where there is direct sunlight , also avoid areas of moisture and areas of heat. Dust them with a soft cloth regularly.
How to hang them?
You can easily hang the baskets on the wall with a small nail that you attach through the weaving pattern in the wall. The baskets hang nice and tight against the wall and the nail fades away in the weaving pattern.
